What Is an Email QR Code?

An email QR code encodes a mailto: link with your email address, subject line, and body text. When someone scans it, their phone opens the default email app with everything pre-filled. They just tap send.

This removes the friction of typing your email address, remembering what to put in the subject line, or composing a message from scratch.

Common Uses for Email QR Codes

  • Customer feedback — place on receipts or packaging: "Scan to share your experience"
  • Support requests — pre-fill the subject with "Support Request" so messages get routed correctly
  • Event follow-ups — "Scan to email us about partnership opportunities"
  • Job applications — "Scan to send your resume" with the subject pre-set to the role
  • RSVP collection — "Scan to RSVP" with body text that says "I'll be attending [event name]"
  • Print advertising — direct response via email instead of a landing page

  5. Add body text (optional)
  6. Customize colors and add your logo
  7. Download as PNG or SVG

Tips for Better Email QR Codes

Pre-fill the subject line. This helps you filter and organize incoming emails. "Feedback from [Store Name]" is better than a blank subject.

Keep the body text short. The body is a starting point, not the full message. A simple "Hi, I'd like to..." gives the sender context without being presumptuous.

Add a clear call-to-action. Next to the QR code, write something like "Scan to email us" or "Questions? Scan to get in touch." A QR code without context gets ignored.

Test on both iOS and Android. Email QR codes open the default mail app, which varies by device. Make sure it works on both.
